Sick Green Terror. Need help and advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I definitely will. The sore was almost completely closed on Saturday so I'm not sure what happened. I'll continue the erythromycin and let you know as he gets better.

I also was wondering if you thought I should also redose parasite guard. I thought hith was internal parasites and that the bacterial infections were opportunistic.

HITH is an internal protazoan you are correct. It's not generally advisable to mix anything other than Kanamycin with erythromycin and even then it must be done with close monitoring. Parasite gurad contains Praziquantel, Dflubenzuron, Metronidazole and Acriflavin and while this is a good medacation I wouldn't mix it. My suggestion would be to finish treating with the erythromycin (since it is helping with the eye infection), do a 50% water change run carbon for a day and then use the parasite guard or API General Cure, if necessary. Does the sore appear red or is it white like it's healing?

The meth blue which you couldn't get would have been helpful and works well as a bath when treating this with the erythromycin.

Oh ok I see now. The sore is white with no red at all. On Saturday it was almost gone and black around it indicating that it was healing. The other spots are also white. I'll continue with erythromycin. Is general cure better than parasite guard?

I like GC over PG both are good I just think the quality of GC is higher and it doesn't add the other two meds which aren't necessary in most cases. Just my opinion. Keep me posted so we can make any adjustments to treatment.

So I just got home and his hole has gotten deeper. He's fine temperament wise and his eye looks good, but the sore is deeper and whiter. I bought both mercycin and parasite guard. Which should I use first?

Here it is visibly deeper. He's eating and active but it looks terrible.

Tomarrow switch to the Parasite Guard. That's hex. He had a double infection, makes treatment diffacult but not impossibile. When you switch to the parasite guard add 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons to the water.
