Sick Green Terror. Need help and advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've been adding salt at that ratio for the last week. Do I need to add carbon first or can I just do a 20% wc with the parasite guard added? I did a 60% water change today when I added the maracyn. Thanks

Add the carbon and let it run for a few hours. Do a 25% water change and add the PG. Water changes are good, the cleaner the better. They remove a lot of pathogens from the water. You'll beat this, stick with it a double infection is tough but I think you have the upper hand now.

Thank you Tom, I really appreciate all of the help. Should I add it tomorrow morning to tonight? Also do I take the carbon out before I add the parasite guard? I've seen how you help so many people in the disease and health issues forum and I have to say its amazing and truly appreciated. Thank you

Always remove carbon before medacationg a tank. You should also wate at least a half hour after adding any declor to the water. This last part is especially true if your using any dyes like MB or MG.

Thank you, doing this on the internet isn't always easy. I sometimes stress over members fishies more than my own. Plus I'm always aware that any help I try to give is out there in the open for the world to see, right or wrong.

I don't have a lot of time in the mornings so I plan on adding the carbon to the xp3 after I get home. How long should I wait after that to medicate with parasite guard? Also don't add dechlorinator to the tank after the 25% WC with parasite guard until 30 mins later? I want to make sure I have it correct. Thank you

That's correct wait at least 30 mins after declor before adding the PG. Let the carbon run about three hours. Do the water change add declor if you are going to and run the carbon. Remove the carbon and add the PG. Do it in this order and you can add the PG when the carbon comes out.

Shouldn't be a problem. I'm a creature of habit and always wait.

So an update. He's doing well, eating, putting on weight and overall back this aggressive self. The cut on his head seems to be healing a bit strangely, with the right side seeming to heal better than his left. I think the reason is that two of his blisters met on that side. I'm adding salt to the tank and doing 20-40% WC a day. I'm hoping that by keeping the tank really clean he can heal without any further medication.
