Maracyn-2 which is Minocycline looses its effectivness at a Ph over 7 or in harder water. I'm not surprized it didn't do too much. For your water perameters Kanamycin is a better choice. While Furan 2 is also more effective in lower Ph or hardness in combination with Kanamycin it is very efective for this type of infection. Maracyn-2 is excelent in soft water low Ph SA or amazon type set ups where it would be the med of choice. This is one of the main reasons I ask for water perameters before suggesting antibiotics.

I have only been able to find one small container of kanaplax. Would it be better to add this to food or the water bc of the limited supply I have?

If that's all you have soak the food if she's eating in just enough water to disolve the kana then dump it into the tank. Use a ten gallon dose to soak the food for about 20 mins. You can treat the tank with Triple sulfa in combination with the Kanamycin. Use the 3X at full dose. HTH.
 
She's back to swimming around and hasn't sank back got the bottom. Breeding colors are coming out. She looks to be I. The path to recovery. Thank you for telling me how to save my fish :)
