SICK OSCAR NEED HELP!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd get a test kit and re-test the water, because there might be something wrong that the lfs did not test, or overlook

it could also be something that you will not se on a test kit like some form of chemical. Have you cleaned anything near the tank with a spray cleaner or do you wear hand lotion?

pet store's are known for testing water and saying its fine when its not.

i would invest in your own test kit. Or even just test strips. The liquid kits are much more acurate though.
That way you can test it every couple of weeks so you know what is normal, then if something happens, you can test it and you will know if something has changed.

Many times, the pet store's vision of "perfect" is all readings at zero. Which is actually not perfect.
Not to mention, they dont know what your normal PH is. So they wouldnt know if you had a sudden spike or drop in PH.

I would keep an eye on him, do a water change. Maybe add some aquarium salt for stress.
:iagree:

i think he might be goin threw a fase or just actin lazy. il do 25 percent water change. i raised the temp up to about 80 and he is doing better looks like. i dont have the money right now to aford a test kit. but i bought some cichlid gold today for him. to eat. i here its the best food in my area to feed them

There's no way around it, you've got to get your own liquid test tube kit and test your water for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates. Never ever trust pet store results. Their little dip strips usually only test for ammonia, pH and gh. Worthless for the info you need. Until you get that test kit and test it yourself there's nothing anyone can say that can 'fix' anything.

Do a water change every day for a couple days, just a little one.

Do you have money to afford conditioner?

Does he have any external symptoms? Are the other fish acting strange?

i think i figured out why he is acting up. i have a home made tank divider i made and on the tank divider i used suction cups to hold it to the glass and on those suction cups theere are matal hooks. and those hooks have started to rust. idk if thats the problem but yall let me no wat yall think
