Sick Oscar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it's really hard to say, without observation :-/
they do it normally, but sometimes due to irritants, swallowing probs etc.

It looks like there's a bunch of small white/clear particles floating throughout my tank and then at the top it's almost like as they rise they're sticking together and floating around (best I can explain). Is that the meds or dead parasites maybe?

I don't know.
if your meds are dissolved tabs, you could probably feel that with your finger tips.
If it's not that, then I'm getting creeped out ;-)

They were dissolved tabs, I think the white specs were parts of the tablet, most of it was gone this morning as it looks like my filters sucked most of them up overnight.

I had noticed when I was searching around for info on the Parasite Guard tabs I used and I found where a rep from Tetra said it works on Ich as well Internal/External parasites so I'm hoping to take it all out in 1 shot...All of the white spots are gone off the Green Terror and both him and my Gold Severum have normal looking poop so far so hopefully I'm on the right track.

Now for another dilemma...I'm leaving for vacation on Friday and will be out of town for about 6 days...should I just leave the temp on my tank elevated to 86 while I'm gone or if everything is still looking good on Friday should I drop the temp back to 78-79 (normally where I keep it) before I leave?

Since my Oscar died my Severum isn't eating the NLS pellets quite as happily as he did before, he still eats the FD blood worms I feed every other day no problem though. He appears to be in good health otherwise as he's pretty active and no clamped fins or any of that...it's just weird because when the Oscar was alive sucking down all the NLS the Severum was eating them too and now he takes them in his mouth and spits them out? Is it because he's not having to compete for food now?

Maybe I'm just being overly cautious now...I sit and look at the fish when I'm at home now and diagnose everything they do since the Oscar died.

I wouldn't worry about it, since he is being treated for IP's and ich.

K, appreciate all your help and advice.

Leaving for vacation tonight so not much I'd be able to do for them right now anyways...hopefully when I get back they're all still healthy and alive, if so I'll stop stressing out about it :)

Got back from vacation today and all the fish in both my tanks appear to be doing very well, my GT appears to have grown a bit and his/her fins have longer trailers now and looks very cool.
