If you are having pH shifts in your tank (especially down), it means you aren't doing enough water changes on it. Your tank should always be at the pH of your tap water.

It depends on what one considers a PH shift....

Tap water PH always and constantly mantained in a high bio load tank is only possible if you change huge amounts of water daily, and even so doubtfully...

And that kind of change is more detrimental than good, imho

I know some do. But mainly through constant flow and not a "normal change"

I also do 90% weekly WC on my discus tanks & 75% on all my other FW tanks.

I would just suggest that if you're using meds/salt/melafix/pimafix, etc so on..
be careful of the change in osmosis in water - it can be deadly to the fish
