How long before I start to see progress in water parameters and him eating?
You should see progress immediately for Nitrate if you follow the advice given in post #9. As for the Redtail no one can give a definite time when the catfish starts to eat again.

Rtc only holds the food until the next day and then vomits it up. This has happened 2 times recently? Any thoughts on what it might be.

Have the nitrates improved? That big a fish in that size tank is going to need a lot of water changes, and a lot of freshwater to feel better.

This happened to our RTCs once when the dissolve oxygen was insufficient.
