Sick/ strange acting MBU (not a 13y/o troll here)

Before a fight breaks out, aquaman, I know my puffers quite well. End of story. Atleast on the freshwater side of the table. I have done research on them for quite a few years now. Thanks for your concern.

Back on topic. Her bottom fin is practically a nub. I think that's killing her swimming, and I think the mark infront of her top fin is sore so she's not using that fin much which isn't helping. I'm going to raise the hospital tank temp from 78.5 to maybe 80-81 and do a tablespoon of aquarium salt, but is there a Med I should go get to help her fins grow back. They should heal and come back right? She doesn't seem to be giving up on me. Her little side fins haven't stopped fluttering yet. I wanna get her back to normal. She's a beautiful fish that was packed with personality, and deserves a good life.

I am glad you know.I do not see what was wrong with what I said for all I know you could have been misinformed on them due to bunk information but you are not, luckily.I was only trying to help with the little basic knowledge I have to share it is great how you older members take simple post and get all sore in the anus over it.You guys show the next generation of fish keepers a lot act like a know it all douche when a simple question is asked have a nice day im sure you do not want me posting on here so I will not but.In my Opinion you guys acted like little kids. Also if you knew so damn much you would not be here.

this thread got ruined quickly, great work guys...

Ride.

Get that cat outta the tank, add a bit of salt and melafix, and start feeding clams soaked in garlic extract and metro... the puffer will be fine once it stops getting beat up.

Any brand aquarium salt you recomend? I have a fizz tab with metro In it but a few other ingredients as well, should I pick up Just plain metro? And garlic extract can be had at a lfs too or what I have regular garlic but I don't think I have an extract. Any of these overdoseable or are they all safe? Meds is something new to me besides basic IP treatment so I want to make sure she has the best fighting chance.

Man this thread did go sour fast. I know the basics of freshwater puffers, size, growth, where they are from. Excuse me for never having one get in this situation amd having to come ask a question.

Aquaman, take this an a formal warning. Knock it off, seriously.

Sounds like you have a good lead on what might be the problem, remove the cat and give her time to heal up. I would not even use salts unless you see an open would. Good diet and clean water will have her healed up in no time.

I dont see a gaping wound, but its clear that her back was bit, since there is a white spot thats not showing color. Guess thats why her top fin is sore, but its not inflamed, red, bleeding or anything. Her bottom fin is tore all the way down to the tissue and is a little red. Im thinking a few days treating in the smaller tank may be better, since I wont have to use huge doses and the current isnt as strong. Or do you guys think I should get her right back into the huge tank and just dose that? I have API tablets that have metronidazole in it, 250mg, but it also has praziquantel in it and the packaging says its for IPs. Pretty sure she doesnt have those, but if thats the metro you want me to use Ill go ahead and start a treatment now. Melafix I have to go run and get, as well as some garlic extract to soke food in.

I think some people on here are confused on what the term troll means. And it was a basic question I am not gonna waste my time going through your threads when I can directly ask.I do not troll I do not come seeking attention or bashing only try to inform and be informed.Glad you figured it out hope things work out.
People buy sweet fish and kill them all the time thinking they have experience including on here so excuse the hell out of me for being concerned or in your words "TROLLING".

I would take the catfish out, do a water change, put the puffer in, and do water changes every few days till she heals. Clean water is a wonder drug, kind of a cure all. I'd start there especially with minor wounds.

And aquaman, you're pathetic.

I agree with the "no salt" part and also think that having zero tankmates is a wise idea, as well. Mbu, in my experience, are very shy and even competition for food (like from a hungry catfish) can freak them out when they are small.

Best of luck to your little guy.
