Sieve filter

It was a inexpensive stainless steel 300 micron square mesh. About $15.00 for a 7"×20" piece on eBay.

The real screens are around $300.00 .

If I had a small 50psi water source, close by to clean the screen with. As it slowly plugged. And a water proof area to install it in. I would still use it.

I had it very close to 110 volt electronics, on top of my tank.

Thanks for the info that gives me a bit more to go off of. I have been searching for gph for sieve filters but not much in the way of straight answers. I have been trying to source out wedge wire material but it seems to be more of a challenge then you would think. I have had a few quotes for wedge wire baskets but they where outrageous material/Labour to quoted price was way off. You would think I asked for titanium sieve

If you want to save some cash and still do it yourself, order a replacement screen. They are $300 ish. The flow is more for the design of the sieve, not the screen. The trick is matching the angle for the water to fall on the screen.

There isn’t much in the way of flow info so I had to test it myself too.

Is it just a stainless micron screen what angle is it at? What gph are you running threw the sieve? How well does it work?
I am trying to figure out the best way to mechanically filter at around 5000 to 6000 gph

Not at all. The screen is a triangle from the side. I don’t know how one would replicate that and perform the same. A normal screen is one layer and horizontal. Sieve screen is mutli layered and vertical as well. It doesn’t trap the same. If it helps, given the choice I would rather purchase another than DIY. The DIY version requires a lot of effort to keep clean so it kind of negates the point (for me) if less effort.

I’m running 10k GPH through mine. The sweet spot is right around 7k-8k IME. For this model at least. There are many different models out there.

The hardest part is incorporating it into a design that works well. These would not go under a stand. Very tall and need to be elevated so the sump level is a gravity drop. Same for the compact models. It’s just a wider version of the same challenge.

All my plumbing is 3” for this setup and it’s full siphon at all times. Took me a minute to design it.
