Just got my new tank and some amazing rare oddballs but the other day a screw just turned and I felt completely differently about having all this money in these fish. I am going to throw it around for awhile before I start a fire sale but the last few days just been awkward. And then yesterday a cuban gar managed to jump out of the tank and that really threw me for a loop. Just kinda venting here

we all go through that phase... i say sit back and relax... take it slow....

agreed. Not saying you should never make the decision. But as our life changes, so does our interest in this hobby. If you want to get rid of it now, and do, then bounce back. Your either out of a great hobby due to (re)startup costs, or have to pay a pretty penny to get back in.

yep, i got there.. too much involved in the aquariums and no time or energy for anything else. i've decided to cut back, downsize at least in number of tanks, not actually water capacity.

i want to eventually have 3 big tanks.. no more. i'm working my way there, i'm down from 11 to 8.. hehehe. Just my Pbass (and a few i don't have yet), my arowana, my red bay snooks and my angelfish.. i may keep the "Ae." Rivulatus but i'm not sure yet.

i'm sorry about your gar.. that is a tough loss. and i have a suggestion. make a top for your tank out of plastic light difuser panels from home depot, it's called "egg crate". the holes are 1/2" square and they keep fish in the tank reliably, you can cut it to fit any size tank. i would have lost my Arowana a long time ago if it wasn't for the egg crate on her tank.

i know where you are at as i did exactly the same and sold off all my big fish and just re listed my bigger tank for sale again today.
i went down to one tank for snakeheads only with minimum outlay and maintenance.
i have now reached the point of wanting just a species tank thats easy to manage without the thousand of $ price tag.

didn't think this would get so many responses. i am def at the point where I am not gonna buy anything new until or if I set up my new tank. Not sure if its cause I have so much and so much money but I just feel lazy towards giving them the attention they deserve and stuff. i appreciate all you guys said and I am gonna sit back and let this collection hang tight with no new additions right now. Will take some pics and post them maybe that will help a bit LOL

thhats how i felt then i downsized and raised a breeding pair of motaguense.... and just these 2 fish keep me sane and still in the game until i get to funds space and time to get more sorry about ur fish bro

The statement says a lot ;) It is easy to get board when you are a person truly able to make a statement like that honestly.. Maybe you might look into childhood dreams that haven't come to pass??? Base jumping... Sky diving.. Who knows adrenaline could be your next fix...

In my opinion it has been much easier to get board with everyone elses fish that I buy already grown... than it is to buy keep to myself and raise... Or just raise... Don't get me wrong.. I don't keep all of those either..

Always having the best of everything sounds fun to some.. but gets boring just as fast as anything else that come EASY ;)

The story goes easy come... Easy go... but if you actually have to work for something it will hold more value...

Your current collection seems to have come pretty easy for you..

Just my opinion ;)

Maybe all you need is a new camera!!! :)
