I saw your high shine vs regular silver....looks platinum to me except for the "dirty" back....is this the difference between a plat and a high shine? That thing looks white as snow except for the back.....
Some old pictures of my Tyrosinase-Negative Leucistic w/ Excess Iridophore Development silver arowana. :D http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=356643

IMO the difference in High Shine and Platinum Silver:
High Shine-shiny(It reflects lighting therefore sometimes when I take pictures, the Aro glares!),coloration on back is just like regular silver
Platinum-not shiny-pure white,white on the back
;)

i think high shine can be created with the proper diet. Feed a silver aro nothing but goldfish feeders all it's life and it'll turn into a high shine fish.

Hmmmm...The back of my high shine is NOT like a regular silver. It is much more pale but without the shiny scales (i.e. not completely crossback). Some say "high shines" are simply a lower platinum grade. Most "platinums" I see (via youtube etc.) look exactly like my high shine (meaning they are just as shiny and NOT completely crossbacked). The higher grade platinums/snows/ghosts are completely white all the way around and even across the back. There is much discussion/confusion over these "high shines" versus "platinum". Some "experts" (who will remain nameless) refer to my high shine as a platinum. And some refer to it as a high shine. My high shine is very white, but also very shiny. The snow aros are a more dull white. Whether you call them high shine, platinum or whatever, aros like mine and Hao's are still very rare and still very beautiful. And I almost sold mine...that would have been one huge mistake that I would have regret forever:screwy:. Glad I kept him. Unlike Hao, I paid a pretty penny for mine.

Notice even in the photos, even though the high shine is not 100% crossback, its "top" is much more pale than the regular silver. This is without flash but with only a shop light.

The last couple pics are with flash. The red eye is from the flash.

They should start calling the high shine aro as the the true platinum aro as platinum in person shines. While the true leuisistic or any other leusistic fish, they should just call it as white or snow or cream. Darn fish farms who started naming them, now it confuses a lot of people. As those true leusistic don't even shine.

I think some do. Which is probably why some consider my fish a "platinum" aro. You have a great point. Who even knows the origin of the names of all these variants? Ultimately, we only go by what we read and what other people we trust tell us...particularly when it comes to morphs and varients.

Yeh your right, the back is more pale than a regular silver. ;) I don't keep Silver Aros often, until now i can see the diffrence clearly between my egular Silver and HS Silver

Are the farms maybe starting to do "White Tank Treatments" with silvers? That would explain the "High shine" and low grade plat morphs.
