Silver aros in my 135

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i raised them from when they were little six inchers. i took advice from my lfs and he said as long as i kept them in a group of odd numbers i'd be fine. i grew them out in this same tank and i haven't had any trouble with them. although i have read online that sometimes dominant aros will drive shy ones to the bottom and starve them... i haven't had any issues with my guys though.

as far as being calm, i dont have troubles with aggression but they startle easily and if one gets going and jumping usually the other two get freaked out as well. i've pretty much stationed a lamp next to the tank and i keep that light on 24/7 so they don't get left in the dark and start jumping. and as far as jumping i've only had one incident about 1.5 weeks ago that one of them jumped out at 1 in the morning, luckily i was still awake to stick his ass back in the tank.

Honestly, I would get rid of the rocks, plants and such to "at lease" give them swimming space. But other then that, good looking arows. Go bare everything.

i keep a tank so i have something nice to look at. the bare bottom tank was too plain for me. plus this way i can hide my detritus for at least a few days before having to vacum it out lol. the plants i kept because arowanas are top swimmers having plants on the bottom doesn't get in the way of their swimming space.

You sure about that? Just because they are "top swimmers" doesn't mean they don't need room to swim. Matter of fact. why do you think one of your arows have a ached back? But hey, have fun with your arows.

they got a few more months befor they will get sick of each other i bet and one gets hurt its still possible to pull it i seen crowded tanks run fine befor, doesnt mean you should do so tho. nice aros tho feeding time must be great

i posted here before about the arched back. it's not actually an arched back but a curved spine. people here have said that it's a genetic defect-- i dont mind tho it keeps the fish interesting looking and at the very least i can tell him apart from the other guys.

i have a video of feeding time, two of the three are mellow and one just chomps down the food. it's a lot of fun! Feeding time is one of the reasons i like keeping aros :D
