I think that it could be ammonia too. I mean ammonia is so bad for fish, it just burns their gills. If you have ammonia and you have a fish that is somewhat delicate (even hardy fish will be susceptable) they will surely die.

I think any ammonia at all could have been the killer.

He also said the pH is low. As the pH goes down, ammonia becomes less toxic. If there is ammonia and the pH is low, that is usually a symptom of insufficient water changes.

good point! I do a 30-35% change twice a week for my little aro. lots of waste from that little bugger.

Well my girlfriend told me the PH is fine, its kinda hard to tell what colors are what when you are colorblind, I cant see most reds or oranges, so I would like it if you dont speak to me like that when you dont know what your talking about.

Are you referring to me? I was trying to help you with your fish emergency. If you have ammonia and a low pH and you raise the pH with a water change your fish will show stress from the now more toxic ammonia. So what I was trying to tell you is that if you did a recent water change that might be why your fish appears ill.

Ohh, the fish died. And I wasnt talking to you zerelli you were nice, I was tlaking about the guys who were making fun of me because I couldnt read my test kit.

Justin, I would look at purchasing a type of kit that you will be able to read (not meant as an insult, just a suggestion) otherwise, what's the point? Especially if you're going to be keeping more aros, they need incredible water quality and without being able to properly test (and read the results) how can you be sure that your water is where it needs to be? Just a suggestion, take it as you may.

My Jardini arowana was swimming with it's tail down yesterday. It died within the hour. I think the cause of death was due to high nitrate/nitrite levels in tank. Hope my silver arowana and friends make it through. My Jardini was about 8''.
