Silver Arowana has busted lip. Surgery needed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would use Fishing line and push the needle through the throat tare and loop over the lip back through the throat and over the lip .. Or you could push through the throat and then through the lip and so on...

But that is just me.

And take notes and description..

Thanks for checking this out for me. Those links are very useful. So how do I "PM" John? What is "PM"? Sorry I'm a newb here.

Look's like Rally's getting johnptc involved, but to answer your question. A PM is a private message, you can send members a PM by clicking the link under their name on one of there posts.

If you can't see the pic I posted then you'll need to make a couple more posts. I think you need 5 to see pics

Well, he is eating, but I'm not sure if you saw the pictures, but he might heal with a big hole in his throat area. I'm not even sure how I'd go about stitching it. I bought some stuff on E-bay "Arowana Stabilizer" that should keep him steady, and I can try to do what Tongue33 said. I don't know, sounds risky. By the way your fish John is awesome. What a beautiful fish!

The first part of my suggestion was if you want it to grow together .. If you push the needle through the torn throat part and loop over the lip instead of push through it then you are only pulling the wound together in hopes of it growing together.. Same Idea with pushing through both torn piece and lip.. Except more holes and Stress..

I am weird sometimes ... But If not stitches.. Me and only my opinion I would have culled .As that looks rough to live through... But that is just me..

Didn't mention before but dose with melafix and pimafix just to help with and secondary problems. Bumping the temp up to 84 degrees will help also.

Good luck with this guy, keep us posted. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. It does look pretty rough to live with, so that's why I'm going to see if I do something about it. Like what you said.
