Thanks for the advice. It does look pretty rough to live with, so that's why I'm going to see if I do something about it. Like what you said.

we are sending you our best wishes..for success!!!!!

man that is the mother of all injuries for a fish i have ever seen
iu hope he gets better
and if it was my fish and was eating well i wouldn't have done anything other than keeping the water as clean as possible and bump up the temp and keep him well fed

If the fish eats fine and swims fine, just let it live the rest of its life normally. The only thing I see wrong with this fish is the fact that you don't like its appearance, other than that I think the Aro would be fine. But if you want someone to do the surgery buy my plane ticket and i'll do it lol.

Hi all. I did the surgery on him and his bottom lip is now connected to his jaw. Everything seems to have gone well, all except for now he seems to be gasping some as he swims around. His fins aren't clamped as if he's sick and I put melafix and salt in the tank, as well as a water change. He seems to be gasping a little more each day. I did it Monday and today he seems to be gasping a lot more than the day before. Any idea on what that is and what I can do to help him stop gasping? I attached an image of what his mouth looks like now.

he may just be gasping from the discomfort in his jaw.

you did a pretty good job! Hope he recovers 100%. Feed him small, easily swallowed foods
