I don't recommend any tank mates for young arowana. Goldfish require different water temps then aros. I wouldn't keep them.

You'll get much more satisfaction raising the aro than the goldfish. Gshock and bderick really seem to know what they're doing. I'd listen to them. Aros are just glorious fish to keep, Raise him right and you'll really enjoy the experience. The surface plants seem to give mine alot of security. He's seems very confident and aggressively defends his little patch of weeds.

Maybe you can get a much smaller light and light it 24/7 so that the arowana doesn't get spooked?

The Arcadia submersible blue Led light only cost $42 and only runs at 1W

is it new? my black was one like that but not anymore.. let him get used to you and the tank and it will be fine but do not spook him too much.
(Im no aro expert, nor know fishes well. i just started this hobby and need help!)
