  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
make sure u have a top cuz they jump alot... Also Ask the owner of the fs that sold it to u when he last ate... try and get him home with a full stomach so u can starve him for 3 days to get him on the krill or pellets or w/e.... they are very sensitive fish so becareful and good luck

no. i think its always better to get the aro home on an empty stomach

my last aro was well fed and difficult to get to eat when he got home. My new one hadn't waten in 24 hours and he hit Hikari pellets within 10 mins of being let loose in the tank. I haven't had a food problem yet, other than I was starting to wonder if he could choke to death on a cricket a few hours ago!

ok i'm getting a 6"+ silver arowana. The tank will be a 55 gal. and will be moved up as it grows. My question is what types of food should I use? Freezed Dried krill? I know not to feed them feeders unless it is only once in a blue moon. Are the really as hard as everyone says they are? DO they need to have a low ph? I have a discus tank and they do fine in my 7.6 tap water. Anything will help thanks and please respond anythign you might know about the fish.:cool-1: :perv: :D

Kevin
The ph is fine but if you're worry about it, drop it to 7 instead. You can feed it with shrimps from the market or some of us called them market prawn. It'll be a very good diet for it. I got 2 silvers in my monster tank and they are trained to accept pellets as well. Another form of good diet for pellets is a blend of vitamine and minerals.;)

Ok, once again I talked to the dealer. He already has them eating Aro pellets. Which is really good for me. I hope to get someones camera so I can take pics for you guys when i get the fish. I didn't tell you but i'm getting a 6"+ clown pleco and another discus also from the dealer. I really apresiate the help everyone is giving me thanks a bunch

Kevin

oh, also if i make 30% water changes a day will that be ok for the aro? My discus need clean clean water so i have to do 30% a day.

SILVER AROS ARE FAIRLY EASY TO RAISE...MY PH IS AT 6.8-7 AND MY SILVER SHOWS BEAUTIFUL COLORS LIKE GREEN, PURPLE, PINK, RED AND GREY...SLIGHTLY OF COURSE. YOU SHOULD CONSIDER HAVING A TOP SWIMMING TANKMATE SO IT WONT DEVELOP DROP EYE...MAYBE ANOTHER ARO...BUT BEWARE, THEY FIGHT! HAVE IT EAT AT LEAST 3 FOOD SOURCES SUCH AS (IN MY CASE) JUMBO MIN, DRIED SHRIMP, COLOR BITS, AND FEEDER FISH SUCH AS GUPPIES, PLATYS AND MOLINESIAS SO IT WILL GROW FASTER AND BE A STRONG FISH. ALL TANKMATES ARE WELCOME AS LONG AS IT IS IN THE SILVER ARO'S PH RANGE AND IT DOESNT FIT INTO ITS MOUTH. I KEEP MINE WITH PANGASIUS, BALA SHARKS, TINFOIL BARBS, DISTICHODUS, CRUZEIRO DO SUL, SIAMESE, P.BASS AND CLOWN LOACHES

a top swimming tankmate will have no effect on drop eye, it will most likely get it regardless of what he does, you cant prevent it.

Try not to feed aros prior to bagging. They have the ability to regurgitate & might polute the water in the bag.

thanks for the help guys. What is drop eye though? I have been thinkig about getting a 4" gar of some sort as a top water tankmate. will this be ok? would it be a bad idea to get another aro? I think I will just stick with the 1 aro though.
