So it's tame on it's own and panics with anything else? weird. Lots more trial and error experiments there then.

As an addition to my last post: Always remember, big cats aren't predictable, even when we think we've got a good understanding of them losses can happen. Not getting too worked up about losing a fish as food is the key and use it as a learning experience and accept that it might happen again. If somebody has 3 large RTC and other large cats in a tank then i think he's going to be already aware of their requirements and atitudes towards tank mates as food!

The last fish i lost was when all my fish were still in a tank and my big RTCxTSN ate my GT. A slight change to the feeding programme when all the fish were moved into a paddling pool when i moved house after that happened has ment that none of the Cichlids or other fish of the same size that are still all together have been eaten since. Although i am still going to move all the smaller fish out for a bit more safety when the tank's set back up (experiment over.) I currently have 1 smaller channel cat swimming around that i call 'Mr Chew' as he looks like he has been swallowed and thrown back up again but without seeing it happen it can't be confirmed, and did lose a silver shark earlier this year but it was dead in the pond rather than dead in another fish.

Yes satan matey, that experiment is now in progress each day, im going to try the 2 baby rtcxtsn i have with him see if there is any change, i think he might feel a bit intimidated as the other cats are alot bigger than him, but he seems fine when he rest next to the babys :D Sounds like a plan that might actually work but only time will tell ;)

It is afterall 1 huge experiment as it is when they think up new hybrids for us all ;) its human nature to learn via our mistakes.

great vid m8, nice to see them active. it clear as pointed out it is feeding time so just a game they play eh, who gets the food first.

Yeah they allways play games, when it gets a bit too serious i get the stick out  JK i take there mind of the violence with food, that allways calms them down.

He is a very hardy fish, the cats had just had a boat load aswell but Rosco was the 1 chasing him, he is very greedy. That is his tank really he was the 1st RTC in that tank and rules the roost so to speak ;)

Lol, i find the Aro easier to look after than the cats, never had any problems getting any of them onto pellets! just make sure you have a good lid or you'll come home and find them crispy on the floor.

That sounds like a plan, it might just be because the other RTC are much bigger and more active that it scares it. I've just been told that the first weekend i can get boots on and drive again i've got to come up and get those 2 cats from you so i'll be bringing your pangasius up soon too so make some space;) (might be best in the 5ft to start with when that RTC comes out)

thanks for the info satan my cats the limas wont take pellets but love frozen at least they off live but my albino channel eat about any thing he eat right off the top got him to eat from my hand once the limas been doing better since i removed my jd he an a** hes actualy staring me down right now lol you gouys bigcol and satan ever keep a salt tank?

Maybe you guys should go rub each others bellys over in the catfish forum. Instead of posting here in the forum were most care about the type fish that is gonna end up as a feeder.

Trial and error :duh: what about common sense?

Lovely fish mate.

especially like the rtc.

however not wanting to sound like a naysayer i had a 16" silver aro' in with my black devil catfish approx 22" at the time, and it lasted 4 days.

the arowana was gone comlpetely no sign. its not my place to say dont do it, however i do believe its not a case of if they will eat the aro' but when.

however the catfish lived with two adult featherfin synondtis (spelling??) and had not touched them once. i believe personally its to do wih the cats being nocturnal also and are more active and aware of him at night, the aro' was caught off guard sleeping. not an expert but just food for thought.
