I have never kept any of my silvers in brackish conditions but I also wound up trading or selling them after a period of time.Mine have all been the quickest of my dats to train onto pellets and they were very active most of the time.
True, polota are the easiest to get onto processed foods, but after a certain while, they get to a point, where the struggle is to watch their weight.

Here's a link from my past experience

A. Salt added or 100% fresh
* 1.5 cups per 100 gallon. Just a preference I maintain with my bichirs, characins, and my other dat pecies

B. Size u got it and size now
#1 grew a 3” to a 10”(died) several years ago.
#2 have one now that was 6” and now about 10.5”

C. How long did u have it Before u sold it or died
* my first silver took about 18-24’ish months to go from 3 to 10”. Second silver from 6” to 10.5”. Have this one around 18 months +\-

D. Current or old Photo If u have it
*. I have to dig one up and take new one, lol.

E. Aggressive or Passive
* passive for both. Will swim away when I walk up. Current silver get chased on occasion by my larger indos and Ngt.
C. totally forgot that I had attempted 2 other silvers as my ‘first’ lol.... So easy to forget. The two were 4-5” before they died for unknown reasons to me. Probably at the time. Blamed them for being the India brackish type or something. Hehe.

There’s got to be reasons why we don’t see them surpassing 10” often. Such as salinity being beneficial for most as they get older? Who knows. The mystery is what’s intriguing me :)

*first two silvers. No photos.
*second silver -screenshot from older video in 2016 (alive)

Figured I’d share the three 13.5-15” butttholes that chases my passive Silver :)

I have no clue to as why mine have surpassed the 10" mark, especially after talking with you privately so much about it... Maybe they have been Captive bred to be adapted to 100% fresh, similar to how we see these bumblebee groupers who used to be salt/ brackish that now can sustain a perfectly healthy life in fresh or minimal salt levels and grow just as big, my local shop had an 18" one in a huge display, which was practically fresh, he said the measurements didn't even come close to brackish.
