I dont hear too much about them, atleast around my area but I really like Silver Dollars. Whos with me!

very active, they are a fun fish :D

my dad had one when i was growing up, he got so big and lived a long life. Now that i have my own tank ive had silver dollars and they are my fav fish besides my bichirs.

They are a lot of fun to watch in groups with plenty of room to swim. I have nine in an eight foot diameter pond and they school at high speeds everywhere. When they want to stop suddenly they turn there tail to the side like a brake. Throw a head of lettuce in and they turn into a shoal of piranha.
 
Repect to the Silver! I have 6 in the big tank providing lots of movement, visitors that aren't too wise on different fish think them and the pacu are pirahna. They do creep me out though when they all just line up in front of the glass and stare at me........:nilly:

here is my red hooks(6inches)with my 10 in pearsei they steall all his food so he gets made ad chase them away to eat an they sneak to get the food again funny to watch

I only have 3 at the moment, im thinking about bumping up to 6.

They are really funny, always zooming around the tank. :)
 
gotta love the silver dollars. i find them to be the best fish to mix in with a cichlid tank. i have three different species of them.
