You said it... don't you know what you meant? Or, am I confused?

mine are both the same size and they always charge at each other with there mouths open one has black coloring on the edge of his tail fin and he is the most aggresive

wat does the behavior above and black edged tail fins mean

Oh, okay, then I did misunderstand. Sorry. I have not ever observed them charging each other with their mouths open. This is fighting. The dark coloration happens when they're excited -- mostly, as I said, when they're trying to breed, otherwise, I suppose they would "color up" when aggressive. What size tank are these fish in? I'm not familiar with this type of behavior. As I said, I have 10, and I've observed fin-nipping, but that's all. Is it possible the tank is overcrowded, or too small? Otherwise, I guess it is just aggression, and I'm not sure of the cause. So, I'm not sure what you could do about it. Maybe someone else will chime in here.

could it be that both are males and the tank is 95 gallons and there are only three silver dollars so im guessing that they are either males or just aggresive how do i tell if they are males or not?

can anybody answer the above

This going to sound dumb, but do you have a photo of these fish? Honestly, this behavior sounds completely un-characin to me. I cannot attest for others, as so many refuse to contribute to this thread. So I'm not sure if they agree with me, or just don't care! In my experience (As far as characins, I've had and have many tetras, silver dollars, and Pacu, and as for Cichlids, Angels and Oscars) this sounds like typical cichlid behavior. Fish that rush each other, mouths open -- that sounds totally cichlid. Not characin. I'd just like a positive ID on the fish in question.

Male SD's get the dark ends on their tailfins and develop black shoulderspots when excited.
The males olso have a prolonged bottonpart of their assfin.
The assfin looks like it's nipped.
The assfin on females is red, on males see-through.
This is a male:

The one with the fish in it's mouth is a male, the others female:

My 2 males allways fight over the females and they play rough!
Yesterday the 2 males where mating with one female and fighting eachother at the same time.
Man, my 180Gl was way too small for them.:D

mine apparently are both females and wat happens is the one with a black edged tailfin chases the others away with its mouth open but the other silver dollar attacks him back and they bite each other in a angry frenzy i dont know why but maybe its becuase they are the only fish in the middle and lower levels becuase my barracuda and gar always stay away from the current created by my powerhead this behavier might stop after i get my large tat im getting one with a attitude that way he defend himself against them but if i have to i will get rid of the most aggresive silver dollar.

I LOLed at the title of this thread...I've never heard of such a thing.

Me too.... I never had a problem with the $$ I use to have. Maybe it is "fun" time for them and they are establishing a pecking order or whatever you want to say :)
