Hi everybody.
My previous plan of a 250L snakehead tank fell apart (super expensive here and not easy to find):(

So.
I consulted a friend at school about a tank and got some info
For a 250L tank now (1.2m long) would it be possible to keep:
-silver dollars (6?)
-1 rope/reed fish
-2 butterfly fish

I am planning to feed algae wafers and pellet for the dollars,, mealworms, meaty gel food/pellets(if they can be trained to eat it) and frozen angelfish for the ropefish and pellet/mealworm for the butterflies.

could you guys help me out here with stocking?
Also are there foreground plants (like java moss) and tall background plants the silvers wont eat?

Appreciate any help. Hendré

That group of fish can be accomplished in 250liter. If the SDs aren't fed then may nip on the butterfly fish's fins. Plants and silver dollars will be a bit of a problem. Maybe a plant person can help.

thanks dude, from what i have heard silvers are completely passive, maybe some floating mass (hornwort i think it is) would help the bf

I've used fake water lily (I think that's as the name)!before.

ok, i love butterlfies, i want to keep em in 1 piece ;)

Usually silver dollars and plants don't go together but I have 3 full grown ones that have never touched any of my plants.

Shouldn't be an issue but I've had some that are nippy. Keep an eye out still should more than likely be ok.

I would not go with SDs they grow large enough to cause damage to scapes and themselves. Very skittish and bangs around a lot. Why not try some congo tetras and keep it african themed with Anubias since you have butterflys and ropefish?

May be a good idea =)
But are Congo tetras difficult to keep nice and colourful (heard they need precise conditions)

Not difficult to keep at all. There are red Congo tetras which have awesome color.
