If that's true then why did it work for me when I had a severe ich infestation? If "the amount given on the box does nothing at all" then I'm pretty sure that both my sailfin pleco and my tire track eel would be dead right now.

Ick can be treated with just increased temperature. The average cycle of ick is about a bit more than a week, even without salt, just a temperature increase can already kill them off. Also, in this case as well, we're talking not about ick, but about physical injuries.

so if i add 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons what temperature should i raise too? how long should i keep the temperature up? its at 80 F right now and do i need to do a water change to remove salt or can i leave it in if my levels are good?
