mel. auratus definately! i have 2 albinos and they are docile (and in a 180 gallon tank), but i heard the albinos are the least aggressive of them. Once they sexually mature, youll see alot of aggression probably.

i dont know the size of your tank, but id say once they get a little bigger, your labs will get beat down pretty bad.

Cool. Thanks for the info....might not be keeping these guys once they get a bit bigger...

Once they go, I'm thinking:

Some sort of Labs, Red top zebras, and some pseudotrophs (not decided on which ones).

Good or not good? Any one kept these in a 55g before?

Thanks

Ah ok. Sorry bout that. How about labs, red tops, cobue, minos reef, and pseudo. Elongatus Linganjala? (got these of cichlid-forum.com)

How many species would you recommend I keep in a mixed African?

i have these guys..and never had one ounce of aggression... i bred them too...mixed them in with others ...never saw any difference with them then any other...:confused: i like them alot... glad i never had a problem...you can see one near orange zebra on the right.. i will get better pics..

my opinion only... i would not add yellow labs to the average malawi mixed tanks,... labs are the gentle malawi's and would definitly not fit in, {this is my experience} i have mine in with my frontosa simply because they are safe there..... the key is to keep them equal to each other.. i would put various kinds of zebras {keeping in mind they get on the large side}with the auratus ... and some damasoni ..{they tend to have aggression to their own kind} but stand up to others... there are so many you should really go through them and narrow it down what you like and then see if they are compatable as tankmates with each other... it is almost like the world is your oyster in the amount of them up for selection... some will be hard to find.. some rare, some common... its up to you.... :D

I believe it happens... but honestly any of the aggressive malawi can be the bully... they all have it in them.. :D
