Nicaraguense, grammodes,Rhytismas, panamensis all colorful & except the grammode are not overly violent so can have/be peaceful tankmates(in terms of cichlids)

They're not? Could have surprised me when mine wrecked killed FM, Rockbass, and almost killed my Convict and Rainbow cichlid.

Grammodes are fine until about 3.5"-4" then they get beligerent and won't tolerate most tankmates. This happend in a 55g with a Severum(never touched or anything) and a Leporinus(they had fought, but usually the leporinus ran) also, none larger than 6" TL. Lots of hiding places as well.

Had to seperate him from everybody and he lived behind a divider for awhile. Now he's in a Rubbermaid by himself, well until i can find time to reseal my tank.

Sell the grammodes. You can get $$$ for a large one.

Nice fish. How owner-interactive are they?

I'm with you on this. My 5" male grammodes has a tank to himself now, I can't keep him with anything, not even a jag twice his size because of his relentless nature. That said, I'd recommend grammodes to anyone, as they are IMO one of the best looking CA's out there.

I can fully agree about the fish being good-looking. I just wish they were a little more outgoing. Can't have evrything I guess...
