my 75 gallon tank is open again and I'm looking to fill it with a large Central/South American cichlid. I'm down to either an Amphilophus labiatus Red Devil, or a Texas Cichlid (which would be better for texas? Cyanoguttatus or Carpintis?)...OR an Albino Oscar...Now, I've kept Oscars before and i love them of course...but I have kept them before so I don't know if i should go down that road again right now but i can't decide. I've also kept a Midas cichlid which as we all know is extremely similar to a red devil (in face it probably had some red devil in its blood anyway). I've never kept a texas cichlid and they look wicked cool but I don't know if it will be as interactive as an oscar or red devil would? I'm just not sure, let me know what your opinions are...Thanks!

Texas can be just as interactive. I have a carpintis pair.Even at a small size mine have been very interactive. But i love some of the molted colors you can get with devils. IME they will all have similar personalities. Just really comes down to what you like the look of better.

if you have keep red devils already, then maybe get either type of texas.i think both will be interactive, but individuals can vary.

Flowerhorn....or Texas

I've actually had flower horns in the back of my mind for a while now, I've never kept one but always been curious about them. Let me just say, i know a lot of people love the massive nuchal hump (or "kok" as I've heard it called)...but i really don't like it when the males get such large humps thats its starts to look really unnatural and strange looking. But apparently I've heard that "low-grade" flowerhorns, even males, won't get the massive koks that get so big they make swimming difficult. Could a "low grade" flowerhorn be the way to go? I'm not really sure what makes a flowerhorn a "low grade" or "high grade" but there is a local PetsMart that sells flowerhorns and i was told that any FH i could buy at petsmart would be a low grade. Is this true?
