single cichlid for a 29g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in terms of color, a salvini, but I'd feel a full grown adult might be too big...I'd rather go with any of the smaller acaras

you might want to go with a ram cichlid they have great color and stay pretty small..

I wouldn't be afraid of a ram pair in the 29

I see a lot of good ideas for a pair of small fish (which is what I would do) . . . I think it's tough to think of one fish that would look good in a 29G . . . when I think of firemouths or rainbows or convicts, I usually think of them in pairs or as community fish; hard to picture them as a single show-piece fish . . . (?)

that's what I found so tough; I can' think of too many fish I'd keep solo, except for the bigger cichlids . . . I guess that doesn't really help, tho' . . .

I'd get an african cichlid if you're just looking for a single colorful fish...bumble bee would be nice.

if you expand the list to Africans, there are a few good Tanganyikan cichlids that would look very nice in that size tank, though not necessarily as individuals

right now I have a 4 inch male convict in there. This is a tank that a friend just gave me. Could I add any kind of catfish in there and maybe some other kinds of dithers?
