Very nice rich. These guys have been on my list for a while now.
Thanks Mike. You should have gotten some when Wes had them.I bought two but the other one could never keep up with this one at feeding time.I put up a divider and tried to powerfeed the little guy but it eventually died.

You might want to read (if you have not yet) the thread by sunnysjourney sunnysjourney about the rise and fall of his chuatsi and mine too, so you avoid our mistakes. IIRC, it is in this same Photo forum.

Krich is our last hope to keep learning about these pretty perches.

....and one thing I have learned is that they are very sensitive to degenerating water quality.I have this one perch in a twenty gallon tank with a power filter, the only other fish in the tank now is a small pangasious that is protected by a divider.Very light bio load but if I do not do a large weekly water change the perch will get a white slimy substance on it's body.I came home one day after completing a tight week at work and the fish was nearly completely covered in the stuff....eyes and all...but the really odd thing about it is within an hour of me completing a seventy percent water change the slime had started to fade away and was gone completely a few hours later.I have never seen any other fish react this way to water conditions.

Mine did precisely the same when placed in softer water. If you don't own a GH / KH kit, you could at least check the pH to make sure it is stable, albeit pH can be misleading.

Just a thought.

Needless to say you know it but I'll say it anyway - the accumulating waste acidifies the water whilst your tap water I'd guess is hard. Hence, an alternative explanation to what you observe.

Well I'm glad I brought it up,I will check those parameters and thank you.
