Siphon break hole size.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well THAT was a surprise!
I drilled an 1/8" hole in the top of the return fitting and it didn't break the siphon. It slowed it down once the hole started sucking air but the water continued to siphon.

Maybe the two Loc-line nozzles are too much?

I had to place my returns upwards towards surface bc every time I disconnected my sump it would continue to overflow and when I raise the return closer to surface the air stopped the syphon

I didn't even know that ppl drilled hole on the return like that, I might have to try it

I drill the suction side pipe on all my canisters, so that a leak won't drain the tank. I use a 5mm hole. Should be big enough to not get clogged by a leaf or a snail.

I had a marineland over flow setup. I just copied it to my new setup. It had an 1/8" hole on the bottom of the 90 pvc where the loc line connects so it broke the syphoning on the tank..

This bugger keeps on siphoning with the 1/8" hole. Maybe I'll try adding another 1/8" next to it.
It's kind of a bummer though cause I got an annoying little water spout shooting up after drilling the first one.

I just set up a bean animal and using just aquarium air line my secondary drain would hold siphon, ended up using 1/4" hose to stop the siphon. I figured an air break was an air break. On my old tank I had same issue with the small water stream as you, I added a small piece of tubing that I angle cut and put back of angle toward water flow to stop it, kind of looked stupid but it seemed to work for almost 2 years
