hi,
i have a 125 gallon tank with 3 oscars. im wondering what you guys use to siphon your large tanks because it takes forever for me to finish siphoning the rocks. my siphon tube is less then 2 inches diameter. i need something much bigger. do you guys make your own?

python. There are a couple more brands, but they're all pretty much the same thing. Look it up.

Or buy the connections and make your own.

Go to home depot and buy a huge tube there, I can empty my 240g. in minutes.

The tube is not the issue, the waterflow is limited by the diameter of the hose.

i would use a phython on my tanks lol but the water outlets in my house are too far away from my bedroom.
so i just go bucket by bucket!
i use a regular syphoning hose.

for a 125, I'd stick with a python. My larger tanks (350 and up) take way too long with a python. I use a python for the gravel wash then, switch to a 2 1/2" pool vacuum hose for the bulk of the water removal.

but i need a wider diameter tube so i can cover more gravel cause with a skinnier tube i can only cover one small area at a time. i was thinking of making one out of a 2 liter soda bottle. just cut it in half and attach a big hose to it? will it work?

thanks for the input

I use a python to do my 265 and 300. It really doesn't take that long, but I suppose it doesn't make much of a difference because I don't do it very often.
