Sizing bean animal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
With bigger diameter pipe, there are other things that become the limiting factor such as your return pump and/or the weir. I cannot imagine going anything beyond 2" for the turnover you need for that size tank.

What ends up happening is you reduce opening
Of the gate valve due to not insufficient return into your overflow, I think.

Probably two jebao pumps. May go with their biggest size and dial the6n down a bit
I was using two dct15000s one on 2 of 10 and one on 5 of 10 and I was getting 3000gph with 2 inch return plumbing and 2’ vertical head. When I turned them up to full power it was maybe 4500 total. I have since moved and now I need a real pump that can handle more significant head pressure. Look at the jebao pump curve it’s not very good.

Ah ic, i know they have a dcp 18000 now so i may go with that one? When they were full power, were you only using a single 2" siphon? Do you think decreasing the size of the return plumbing to maybe 1.5" or 1" would have helped with your flow?

The pumps were plumbed with 2 inch pvc the pipes going to the sump were 2 1.5” full siphons. Decreasing the pipe size on the pump will only reduce your flow as it increases the velocity head. With the 2 inch piping minimal bends my case was a best case scenario.

Based on suggestions from many, I'll be aiming for ~ 10 x turnover meaning 7000 gph. Two 2" siphons should be able to handle this?

Referring to the chart posted earlier it’s going to be very close.
If you are truly putting 7,000 gph thru the system.
Two 2” pipe gravity feed lines will take 6,600
