also most of the little fish in the tank have been dying since the treatment....this normal? mollies....barbs....no fish bigger than 2 inches...seems like they cant handle it since the parasite guard was added.
this is just my take on it... but my guess is it could be the fact the meds are killing off the ips in his system causing him to be a bit weaker at the moment as he tries passing it through and finally out of his system...
-EDIT-
Didn't see the post above mine just now... so all i can say is read the instructions on what it says about using the meds, coz maybe you accidentally over dosed the tank? or it could be theres something in the meds thats not good for sensitive fish?
Although this is just my opinion since i'm no expert with IP's medication from the US etc...
I would try doing a water change to get the meds out of the tank first. Then, I would break off about 1/8 of a tab of the parasite clear and dissolve it in a small cup of water. Then soak his food in it for a few minutes before feeding.
They absorb the med through skin and gills and in my case the fish got worse before they got better. Not sure why but Fat Homer could be right about the parasites dieing and making them sicker for awhile. If you followed the directions your Mbu should come around with in a few days.As for the other fish dieing can't comment since I didn't have any other fish with my Mbu. I think your Mbu will be plump and healthy in no time.I sent you a PM. Mike
How will absorbing a med through their skin & gills, kill parasites in their digestive tract? If you took a bath in Pepto-Bismol, would that help your stomach ache?
Are you serious puffer punk? Give me a f'n break! I got a question for you,Are you a chic that's constantly on the rag or just going with out your meds for prolonged periods. It seems anyone who comments on something that works you always have some kind of negative comment. Before you make a silly ass negative comment like that do some research. I for one am tired of your negativity and the main reason I don't go around Puffer Forum any more.Nuff said! Try to have a nice day! Mike
BTW, just to clarify something: garlic is commonly used to treat internal parasites of freshly imported delicate fish such as stingrays and Cichla, which don't respond too well to medication.
So what NUT mentioned was totally correct and should have been tried before using any medication!
Fresh garlic in the food is used to treat internal parasites not just the juice. There was an article awhile back in TFH by that discus guy. He uses fresh (and must be fresh according to the article) garlic in the food for a period of no less than 4 weeks. After treatment, when examaning the feces under a microscope no traces of IPs could be found.
^ Thats pretty interesting if it works... never would have thought that garlic could work as an IP's med of sorts... do you by any chance have a link to the article so i could check it out... since i'm in the process of dealing with ips in one of my puff's...
