Skunks act very much like ferrets and or cats to a point when kept as pets. Like ferrets they can be demusked.

Tomato juice doesn't work. The best I've found was a mixture of baking soda, Dawn dish soap and hydrogen peroxide mixed into a paste and spread over the area sprayed. Let it sit as long as possible rinse with warm water and reapply as needed. My ex let the dogs out one morning and they found skunks. Neither one of the dogs were aggressive towards other animals but the skunks didn't know that the dogs were just going to check them out in a friendly manner. She then locked the dogs in the bathroom and woke me up to deal with it because I had the day off........not any more.
Good luck getting them out. I was able to get them out from under my deck with hotdogs in a live trap. I then relocated the mom and 2 kits to a large wooded area with a nice pond well away from people.

In west Tenneesse the tomato juice works! We use it on coon dogs all the time. A good bath in a kiddie pool from the dollar general works. Yes it’s rough on getting them in there but it is worth it. For the mothballs that one has worked for years. My grandma taught me that one. The only problem with “lead poisoning” if you don’t hit them in the right spot their last will and testament will to spray as hard as they can and it is worse!

Sounds like something my wife would do lol.
Happy ending for you and the skunks.
My biggest thing was why would you put the dogs in the house after being sprayed at point blank range. I had to throw out the bath mat and the frilly crap around and on the toilet (felt really bad about this) and the shower curtain and liner. It was a nice day 70s in the morning mid 80s and sunny by afternoon. I could have bathed the dogs outside and not had to spend two days cleaning the bathroom.

Well I guess there is no way around it. I'm going to have to enter the crawl space to find out if there's anything under there. I don't hear anything, but there is a specific spot I keep smelling skunk. It's right near my fabric couches. I wonder if they absorbed the smell from days ago, and releases it when I sit down? IDK, This weekend I'll go check it out.

Move the couches to a different location, and see if the smell follows.

A possible explanation that leaps to mind is that the access opening they used was closed during daylight hours, trapping one or more skunks in the crawlspace. With no escape, these animals could have died and begun contributing a slightly different odour to the cocktail of smells you already enjoy.

I would be very cautious about going in there if you think there are still live skunks present. If they feel that they are cornered, their reaction will be predictable.
