im not into sliders i do like the looks of the blue eyed and lemons how ever i am not a fan of breeding sliders for the genetic/pigment mutations as no real studies have been done to see if their are health related issues linked to these mutations and if it turns out that their are health realated issues linked to the mutation they shouldnt be breed purposefully and sold for hundreds of dollars...i know its not to likely but still its just my random 2cents on the issue

i agree. if a certain morph combination was "unhealthy", kind of like the pearls [super woma] in ball pythons [i dont think any hatchlings have survived past a week], they shouldnt be bred. we prize the animal itself over anything else, us conscientious keepers. (:

To be honest, most morphs (except some albinos) don't really interest me. I've been keeping my female RES for nearly 10 years now, and I'm still not bored :D

As for people viewing them as "beginner" turtles, that's a load of crap. They get bigger than most people care for, and cost quite a lot to keep. The simple fact they are "hardy" leads people to think they are beginners, whilst a musk or a mud turtle would probably be better.

I love all those colors. I believe in limited color breeding, having bred cockatiels for certain colors, but it was never at the risk of their health. I always thought albinos and other color morphs were fragile?
I don't find any turtle boring. Mine amuse me every day.
