First of these are not mine or any other MFKLouie;2173174; said:You guys have some stunning sliders. My brother in law bought 5 yellow ear sliders (think that is what they are called).
He isn't a good pet owner all 5 are crowded in a 15 gallon but I am taking 3 for a pond and talking him into setting them up the other 2 in his yard. They were 5 for $20 by the beach outside seller.
Second there is no such thing as a "yellow ear slider" as for the most comon sliders there are the red ear slider, the yellow belly slider and the cumberland slider. Thouse sliders apear to be yellow bellys(Trachemys scripta scripta), owesame turts, really pretty and pretty much the same as red ears in therms of personality. Have 5 females myself and cant get tyerd of them
As for taking care of thouse turts I recomend you this: dont ad thouse turts to a pond as of now. They are to small, they are vulnerable to predators and they still dont have the body mass necessary to indure things like hibernation. In a pond they would also became extremely shy wich will make feeding very dificult. Insted get another 15 gallon to house some of the turts, get rid of that artificialy colored gravel(can have nasty toxics) and use a bare botom, use some nice peaces of cork for basking, get some live aquatic plants like Elodea or Anacharis, a uv ligth for herps and a copple of small cheap filters and your setup for the next 6 moths or so
