I like some of Slipknots songs but there on stage personas and antics like the turntablist who sets himself on fire and how crazy and scarey their masks are that just really puts me off em they take it too far, but now Slayer thats another story. Nah ill stick with my RATM, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden and mastodon.... Does anybody else agree that they are just to extreme?

(Liam this isnt meant to be offensive just my opion after seeing some live DVD's.)

look at manson when he was actually making great music before he came out with goag and the new one that i dont even bother with remembering the name. its for shock value and entertainment. slipknot though lost my respect with vol 3 iowa and self tittle and mate feed kill repeat were great albums

Agreed. Many bands sell themselves short to have the shock value. To me its all about the talent. If you trade your talent in for shock value... you lost a fan.

ya but manson was great at both, he was a genius now he just cant do it anymore

take mayhem for shock value lol

I've met Manson, he's a really cool dude. I can't stand his music, don't like Slipknot either...

As far as stage antics go...well, whatever brings in a crowd I guess. Rammstein, and quite a few GG Allin wanna-be bands do WAY worse on stage.

Slipknot's drummer has some good double bass control, and the singer's got a decent range - though he needs to quit the clear tone vocals from what I've heard.

Like I said I'm not a big fan, so I haven't heard all of their songs...to each their own, I've had guys tell me Blink 182's drummer is better than Neil Peart (Rush) - which I find absurd...but it's not like I'm gonna lose sleep over it.

Yeah, slipknot is more for the guys that love the shock value of it. IMO, they dont produce real music, its just loud noise
