SM BASS/PB BASS???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ya it wouldnt take long for the sm to get put in its place. I know they seem aggressive but wait until you see a pairs of red devils, green terrors, convicts etc. They make it seem like a neon tetra lol

Pbass aren't known for their aggresion, unlike the other cichlids you listed. The same is true for smallmouths, as sunfish go they are not known for their aggresion. The combination might work but what concerns me most is the temp. A smallmouth would do much better long term in a cool water tank (60's maybe low 70's) and of course the pbass is tropical. As for size, some pbass are smaller then others, it would depend on the species.

Sm might not have a reputation as aggressive fish, but my lm and sm are constantly fighting! Its probably because they are in a 20g tank, but Im moving them to a 125 within the next few days, hopefully that helps!

I dont know much about the pb/sb combo all i know is that catching smallmouths on a fly rod is a blast and thats reason enough to have one!!!!

Sm bass are becoming very popular on a flyrod, Im lucky I have a few great smallmouth lakes near me, I just need more free time to visit them lol

lol i live inbetween miami and orlando i catch small mouth Pbass and Lmouth bass all the time.... so if you ever go to disney down here just bring a fishing pole and catch a bass mate :)

and i think it will work as long as the Pbass is smaller then the Sbass but the Pbass might end up eating him when he gets bigger.

the temp of my tank stays around 72 degrees (room temp) would a pbass be able to survive in those kinds of temps???
