i have 2 dachshunds. like kevin said, theyre cool but they are both over a year and are still going to the bathroom in the house. the one we had before wasnt perfectly trained either. great dogs, just imo hard to train

If I may add something else, small dogs are by no means easy with kids. They become very tempermental with kids. Just my experience

well let me clarify , im looking for a small to med breed that is good with small children.

I have an English Bulldog and unless you a nice savings account.... I wouldn't recommend them. They are expensive "Designer" dogs ($1700+) and their medical/vet bills add up very quickly! I've already dumped about $3500 into my dog.... that's not including his sticker price! And after 5 years... still pees in the house!

Try the shelter for small breed dogs. On Oprah they just ran an ep where they saved a bunch from a mill and in two months they will be ready for adoption, and they ship. Its just better to save a life. But good luck.
