what is the smallest sharks speceis(sp?)

As soon you're talking
salt water? I would have to say it banded shark, in my opinion they are glorified catfish, but they do look like sharks and are extremely beautiful.

Smallest shark in the pet industry is the Coral Cat Shark (Atelomycterus marmoratus) at 24" in length at adult size.

Smallest shark in the ocean is a Spined Pygmy Shark (Squaliolus laticaudus) at 8" in length at adult size.

And no such thing as a fresh water shark.

in australia bull sharks swim up rivers into mainland up to 600km so their are sharks who can live in fresh water.ppl fish 4 em and everything.

you are right in saying they can live in freshwater. They are wide spread around the world however.Only problem is they reach around 8 ft and are a fairly hefty lump of machinery.

ya in iraq some bull sharks i guess swam up the river when the dam was open and when the closed it they got stuck in this big as lake. the local fisherman said they still saw them swiiming in there every now and again, i took that as a no for going swiming. lol

While these sharks can swim in and tolerate freshwater, they are still not freshwater sharks as they cannot live permanatly in these waters.

You are completly wrong. The Bull Shark or River Whalers as we also call them are living for years in freshwater here as they are trapped by barrages and lochs. The brisbane river for example is full of them .I used to go water skiing in these areas until I read a report that the fisheries put nets out to studie them.Apparently they netted over 200 in the first night.I know the gold coast canals and lakes are loaded with them too. These areas the salt and fresh is kept sepparated.
We fish for them in freshwater.

how do you know it's the same fish that stay in FW and not just travel back and forth regularly?
were any of them tagged and tracked?
