Small update on project 400

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
haha no fee man. im just a hobbiest. im always down to sit back n drink a beer n enjoy the fish's presence. i start the process on this tank with the power OFF. i filled the tank til it started to over flow, then i filled the sump til it was almost full. i plugged in the pump n bam, it started going like it should. its only obvious if i unplugged it, it'll stop right where it needs to.

76*.... hurry the hell up :nilly:

adding the first cycle helper. 8" pleco... he looks lost in that tank LOL. wandering around like "where the hell do i go"

power outtage would suck butt... that intake pipe would cause an overflow no? - its like drawing water from the middle of the tank.. :(
yes he should let it skim the surface i agree

That is an awesome set-up!!!! Congrats...:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

very nice set up but surface skimming would work out better esp in a power outage..and would be very easy to change

great design ethnics. with the Ts at the top of the down tubes your system does not rely on a siphon to work. A true overflow. On the tube that draws from center of tank, you'll have to fab up a quick change media box, cause lotsa poop you'll be pulling out.

bderick is right. its a tru overflow and does not rely on syphon. the back of the overflow is T'd so it can vent. i need to take another picture, there is 2 overflow holes, 1 is skimming the surface, the other is the one pointing down to the middle section for the poop.

update:

tank is at 80* as of this morning. woohoo. jus lettin time take its place to get the beneficial bacteria generated so i can get my big guys in there hopefully the first week of feb or maybe the 2nd week. ill post more pics tomorrow when i get home from snowboarding.
