Smallest wolf fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looked them up, it looks like I will get a red or rainbow. I think that they are the same species, though. Does anyone know the price range for one of these fish? I originally signed up to research red wolf fish specifically, but I haven't been on in a while. Also there is a lot of contradictory info on the web, so I decided to come here.

Thanks. What foods are best for them? Will they eat pellets or do I have to feed them live food? I'm completely ok with feeding them live food, it's just that it is kind of a pain because my favorite independent LFS closed down recently.

Try to aim for Erythrinus sp. Peru they tend to stay a bit smaller than the Erythrinus erythrinus counterpart.
I've had one that as an absolute tank ruler and one of the funnest fish I've kept.

I've seen a full grown Erythrinus erythrinus in a 40G breeder, he definitely looked like he needed more room.

I wouldn't put a gold wolf (Hoplerythrinus unitaeniatus) in there, the minimum for it should be about 75G.

As far as food goes, try raw shrimp, tilapia chunks, mussels, pellets and occasional crayfish and earthworms for live stimulation.

I might be getting another tank either 40 or 55 gallon, max 75 gallon. What are some good tank mates for these fish? Could a sengal bichir, red wolf fish, and hujeta gar live in a 40 gallon breeder their entire lies? In a 55 gallon? In a 75 gallon? Pretty much, what is the smallest of these tanks that the three could live in together all of their lives? Thanks so much for all of the help so far!

quick question why is your username redwolffish but you don't
know that the red wolf fish is the smallest in their family
that doesn't make any sense

A few years ago I saw a red wolf fish at an aquarium, and I thought it was a super awesome fish and I wanted one so bad. I researched and joined MFK at some point. I know that they are pretty small, but there is a lot of different info out there. After a while I kind of lost my obsession, and I got off MFK for a long time. So one day I saw the app, and I decided to buy it. And so, here I am.
