Smartest of them all???

RTC I think. They let you pet them, eat from your hand, etc. Mine even comes out of its little cave when it hears my footsteps approaching.

Smartest fish i ever owned was probably my midas. He would let me hand feed him, and would rub against my arms during water changes like a cat. He would see you across the room and start glass banging too. Second would have to go to my oscar. He is the same, but he still thinks my finger are food...

Here's something to think about: Is smartest always equivalent to friendliest?

NO! my SW damsels are the meanest little !#%&$ ive ever seen but they know when i feed my planted tank across the room i usually feed them next. they will all gather at the front of the glass and wait for thier turn!

From a brain- to body-weight ratio, the Mormyriformes (Elephantnoses, 'freshwater dolphin') seem like they would be the smartest, but I've never been able to dedicate a species tank to a specimen... someday.
Also, their skittish behavior due to their nocturnal nature and ability to sense electrical fields makes them terribly difficult to observe.

interesting, any others before I throw out some results??? :D

this forum really has all kinds of answers, other forums usually stick to 1 species or 2 and a few different.

my 4 inch birchirs will eat the feeder fish out of my hand when i hold the tail of the feeder!!
