My smallmouth bass hasn't eaten in about a week since he finished off all the live blacknose dace I had in the tank. Today I put a brown bullhead in and he sucked in his tail and the bullhead shrugged him off.

I can't get him to come up for pellets or look at sinking massivore delight when I drop it in. If I drop a nightcrawler in, my bluegill will devour it right away.

I would like to try shrimp. What kind of shrimp? Fresh shrimp from the grocery store raw or cooked? Can I buy a bag of frozen shrimp? Do you peel it before you throw it in?

Also, what size should I buy? I think they usually have the really small ones, medium, large, and jumbo.

frozen market shrimp...they normally come peel just rinse and make sure its peeled well. they are usually small. maybe the size of a quarter

Thanks! So those are probably cooked then too?

umm, i actually never looked at the package haha. I do not think they are cooked. They are just peeled. Normally like 4$ a pack for a pound.

Haha. Yeah, I would think they are cooked if they are peeled. I will go over to Super Wal-Mart and see if I can find any.

Ok, I got cooked and peeled salad shrimp. I put a few in and he didn't even move. They are just laying on the bottom of the tank.

damn, how small is the fish?

The bass is about 13 inches. He has been in the tank for about two weeks, but he ate about a dozen minnows in the first week and the second week hasn't eaten anything.

Is the water parameter ok? I am not sure what the bass needs.

But judging by the size of the bass, I think you should start worrying when second week still not eating...did you try blood worms? or maybe try Tetra Jumbokrill.

My ammonia and nitrites are zero and the nitrates are 10.

I haven't tried blood worms or Tetra Jumbokrill. Where can I get these?
