Tetra Jumbokrill you can almost get at all LFS and Petco/smart etc. $6~ for a small can...and frozen bloodworms are normally also avail for like 3$...i would think Walmart sells these things too..no? I have never traveled outside the city to a walmart so i do not know.

And this bass...you fished it?

I just got him to take a nightcrawler and I basically had to get it right in front of him because my sunfish would eat it otherwise. He went down and gobbled it up, but he eventually spit it out in two pieces on the bottom of the tank.

Yes. I fished for and caught him in the wild. The minimum legal size in PA right now is 12", so I couldn't go any smaller than that.

Cool, same in NY. I go largemouth fishing all the time. But I never attempted to keep them alive except on the trip back to my house, I have a in car filter system.

Your fish wouldn't be eating cooked foods in the wild...next time get raw shrimp. Cooking foods removes nutrients that your fish would otherwise use. Cooked shrimp is also more likely to have added ingredients.

Agree with fisher12889. Your bass will take a while to eat since he is 13". If they were smaller, they can be train quicker to market shrimp, pellets, etc. Youll have to be patient & dont be afaird to starve him :) Oh yah, make sure you pick up the left over foods in your tank.

i just buy cooked and peeled {except for the tail} shrimp.. jumbo or medium size.. give some to hubby with cocktail sauce and the rest of the package goes to Arowana, africans, frontosas, columbian cats, blackghost and clown knife.. and too the fire eel who goes wild for the shrimp...and so do my paint turtles..

Great news!

I went back to Wal-Mart today and I got peeled raw medium size shrimp. I thawed one by rinsing it with cold water and my bass kind of looked at it as it drifted to the bottom. He then snapped it up and swallowed it whole! Woohoo!

Hopefully after I feed him shrimp for awhile he will get used to me as a food source? Then maybe I can get him to take Massivore Delight?

Will smallmouth bass take floating pellets too?

one your bass starts eating shrimp on a regular basis ...stuff the massivore pellet into the shrimp.. you can break the pellet in half if its too big in the beginning...

Raw shrimp for the win :headbang2

You could stuff other foods in the shrimp as mentioned, it enhances the nutritional value
