::sighs::

:duh:

am not gonna go off and say, "I HATE all you STUPID smokers for even starting this nasty habit that can KILL you!!!"

HEY! Now you all can look at my first post. I never said i "HATE" anyone.
I can hate what someone does without actually hating the person.

I hate that they spread their smoke, i hate that they throw their butts everywhere, and i hate that they dont see it.
I dont hate THEM.

My brother smoked. I didnt hate him. (though i yelled at him all the time :smurf )

Common you guys. I was just RANTING. Everyone needs to now and then. I dont hate anyone.

Actually, I felt better after i posted that. I wasnt as angry.

(even though it was probably at the cost of making everyone else angry and upset :grinno: )

With that said, thanks Lockness and Oddball for understanding. ;)

what and eat away my stresses? pass.
everyone will have cell phone induced cancer by 2010 anyways. enjoy!!

Ok, I'm sorry, but i have to rant.

I just found out that someone i know has Lung cancer. And they DONT even smoke.
The doctor said its most likely because of second hand smoke from her friends and family who DO smoke. :(

And apparently, lung cancer is one of the major killers out there. Even more so than breast cancer.

And WHY?!?!
Because of smokers who have no self control and are so increadibly MINDLESS about anyone but themselves.
Thats right.
:swear:

I dont CARE if you want to fill your lungs with Cyanide and die an early death. Thats YOUR problem. But dont make it everyone else's problem too. Just keep away from other people.

I feel like choking even DRIVING behind you people. I can smell your smoke through my car's vents.
Then you flick you cigarettes out your window and cause gigantic wild fires.
If i walk behind one more person on the sidewalk who is blowing their toxic dragon breath in my face, i'm going postal on their ***
:SaiyanSmi

We dont want your nasty butts all over the place!!!!! :barf:

If you want to smoke, go in your car and roll all the windows up and just put your butts in your ash tray (THATS WHAT ITS FOR).
The side of the road is not an ash tray.
and neither are sidwalks, trash cans (catch fire), people's lawns, and water fountains.
:swear:

Stop ruining everyone else's day and even their lives and do yourself a favor and quit!!

I would like to say i'm sorry if i offended any of you. But i'm not.

I just hope you can comprehend just how angry i am that this person has to suffer lung cancer and possibly death because of stupid smokers that dont care about anything or anyone but themselves.

my dad quit smoking recently

no need to explain....... Duck!!!!!! be the Duck........ like i said this is a good oppurtunity to pratice...... Don't try to change people....... it will never happen........ instead feel sorry for them for not seeing what you see........

Everything kills you these days.

Give Macgyver a paper clip and I'm sure he'll find a way to kill you.

I'm sorry about your friend..

But...

I'm sick and tired of being told my 2nd hand smoke is causing cancer.

What about the carbon monoxide from cars, the pollutants from factories, who knows what you're breathing when you burn propane or the charcoal in your grill.

I'm just saying that cigs aren't the only way to get lung cancer. Most of us grew up in asbestos filled schools. Lots of cancer victims worked in mills. Both had small fibers floating around that were breathed in.

So before you bash the smokers, you might want to bash the factory owners, the inventor of asbestos and anyone driving a car.

My father spent a week in the ICU almost a year ago now...his blood oxygen level was 89% the nurse said most people coming on that level are being wheeled in. He walked himself into the ER after the doctor ordered him to get there.

I saw him he was blue as a damn smurf and tired as all hell. He pitched a fit about being there until a nurse let him listen to her lungs and then his. that is what scared him into quitting smoking. That and losing two hours in the room when the nursing staff kept boosting his O2 levels in an attempt to get his blood O2 up to the mid 90s. Oddly enough after 40 years of smoking his body wasnt reacting normally. Most people breathe harder when the CO2 levels rise, how ever his lungs were damaged so that his body only worked for air when the O2 levels dropped. being bombarded by the O2 from the mask had his body retaining the CO2. He came very close to being in a coma and being put on life support.

After many arguements about being on home O2 he is now on two inhalers and a minor blood thinner. He cant really do anything he used to do, he used to be very active....now walking to the mail box is pause enough for break on the way back.

Thankfully he has no signs of cancer, just emphazema and COPD. His lungs work at about 55 percent but its getting a little better as they naturally clear out what they can.

When i see someone smoking i'm not offended unless they are trying to smoke so to me than i can taste it. however i look at them and oddly enough my mind envisions them in ten, twenty, thirty years pushing around an O2 cylinder on wheels, or laying in a bed like my father. Or dieing from cancer like his long time co worker did and one of my close friends at work did. Its not really a subject to make jokes about on any level. Its deadly serious for some people. It really does bother me when i can smell the smoke from a car in front of me on the road and see other people in there, i grew up around second hand smoke from both my parents i wish to hell there would have been a way for me to avoid that, but at the time i didnt really know any better as kid and they were doing what they always did out of habit.

I honestly never thought he'd be able to quit but i'm damn proud of him for managing it. If he hadny he'd have died in his sleep by now, hell he still might from sleep apnea (still fighting for him to go take a sleep test).

I guess being more of a caring person than i should be and trying my best to lean towards the very simple beliefs that agree with me, which would be buddism for the record, it does bother me to see people doing somethign that is doing no good for them what so ever. It doesnt make them popular, it doesnt make them cool, it makes them stand in the damn snow smoking on breaks. I just wish i could offer somethign to them with out seeming to encourage or berate them. Its not really my place, i'm just stating what i've seen and how i feel about it. Everyone will make their choices regardless of what others think or do.

All it does is wreak havoc on their bodies, on their friend and families when the piper comes to take it due price for the actions of the past.

It especially troubles me to see young people smoking...i would think they would have heard enough to realize that yeah lots of other things can and do cause cancer but this one is a bit easier to dodge than the need for an income. I talk to attractive women, the first time she lights up i loose all interest. I'm not biased at all i just dont want to watch someone commiting what one of my friend described as slow suicide.

As for the remarks about factories. that is a very good point, this friday i loose my job at a factory that i've had for five years. We die cut masonite and hard board, the dust is incredibly fine and a known carcinogen. i wonder how that has been affecting me. Everything can cause cancer it seems, but after leaving there i'm going to work harder to avoid some things.

All in all it seems that a lot of the time people seem to want to pass the cancer causing buck onto something or someone else. It happens but what can be prevented and avoided should be. The people i work with feel prosecuted by the restaurants up here in michigan that banned smoking. I guess that their choice to feel that way, i've never done anything harder and alcohol so i have no experience with trying to quit something like that. So i guess my simple thought of "well if its such a bother then quit" is hypocrital on my part and i try hard not to think like that.

I think i've rambled on enough.

I am very sorry for your friends problem, and i know a lot of how you're feeling. i watched two people die from it that i knew well, watched it wreck my father for my 28 years (in reality 20 that was paying attention too). I've also seen it give my GFs mom lung cancer (they arent sure if the tumor in her brain was related to smoking but it wasnt related to the one in her lung). I cant imagine what its like waking up in the morning and realizing...hey i've made it one more day of what the docs said i'd have.....that being said i'll probably be hit by a truck on my way to Grand rapids for my interview friday after work. Everyone goes in their time but i'm doing to dodge as many bullets as i can along the way.

Sorry once again for the long rambling post but this one hit kinda close to home for me. I dont mean any offense to anyone who smokes, if i have offended anyone i am sorry, it was far from my intent.

be well, be safe and be happy.

Jason
