I do believe that smokers have a good chance of health problems from smoking but this entire 'second hand smoke kills" is such bulls*%$.. First off the person getting second hand smoke doesn't even really get the harmful chemicals from the product the smoker does. second the amount of second hand smoke you actually get from being around a smoker is very minimal unless you are kissing them when they exhale. I just want to make this clear that I do not smoke and never have but this is getting rediculous. colorado just passed a smoking ban in all public buildings and it is completly moronic. It is catering to the prefrence of a few which is completely rediculous. Its like smokers saying that if you don't smoke you can't be here. until it's considered illegal it should not be treated like it is. I am sorry for you recent hardship but there are many more things that can cause these kinds of problems so hate automobiles just as much!!!!

honestly as a smoker i used to care about who im smoking around or where im smoking not to offend anyone close to me but no matter what i did there would always be someone with a problem or something to say about it and always something negative towards me i mean i would ask for a smoking section every time and STILL there would always be a nonsmoker 
sitting there and complain a soon as i light up COME ON!!! why would u sit there if its SOOOO DISGUSTING TO U AS IF ALL THE FAT AROUND UR HEART IS JUST THERE FOR DECORATION AND IF U SMELL JUST ALITTLE SMOKE YOUR GONNA DROP DEAD AND NOT FINISH UR MEAL
, so when they band smoking in Jersey i now have to wait on long lines to get a table or get up and loose my seat at a bar just to smoke when there is not one nonsmoker in the bar!!! and BEST OF ALL GO IN TO A CIGAR SHOP AND BE TOld DONT SMOKE!!!IN HERE :WTF: SOOOOOOO!!!! since my rights as an American have been taken away i now care less whos around!!! or who it might kill , now when someone tells me AWWW! u should quit

I am sorry to hear about your friend. I am also a smoker. I also feel the same way.........the second hand stuff I do believe is such B.S. Like someone else stated, alot of us went to schools and have worked in factories full of asbestos. I know it is not good for me, but this is how I relieve my stress. Nothing tastes better than a good martini with a cigarette, and well, cigarettes always taste great right after, well......u know. I am not saying it is the greatest thing in the world to do, all I am saying is that us smokers are all going to die someday, somehow. If smoking is what makes us happy, then what the hell? I see other states besides mine have banned smoking in public places. I can understand that to an extent. But, in a bar? That is insane! It just goes hand in hand. What's next? Ban alcohol? That will kill us too.....where are the advocates on that?

I love smokers. The government taxes the hell out of them, so I don't have to pay as much. Plus, it is hilarious to see them standing outside in the middle of a MN winter, -25 deg F, because they can't control themselves. Frostbite or nicotine? Tough call. LOL I enjoy a good cigar every once in a while, but will respect other people with my choice.
Ive been on both sides of the argument, being a former smoker but now clean for 4 years ( when not drinking ). Second hand smoke is not what its made out ot be unless you are subjected to an enclosed area with smoker(s) ... If you occasionally have to walk past an outside area with a couple of people smoking, then just hold your breath until you walk past clear. If you have to drive behind a car that has someone smoking, i would imagine the effects of second hand smoke would be negligible.
Now if you have to share an indoor space with somebody that smokes there, it becomes an entirely different story.. outdoors, you always have the choice to steer clear.

The thing that bugs me is the butts on the side of every off ramp. If you want to smoke, that's fine, but throw your damn butts in the garbage. The roadside looks like an ashtray. What if every fat ass who eats at McDonalds tosses his Big Mac box out the window?
