theres always 1
who has given bad advice?
and who are u tellng to try keeping a boa before giving advice? cast ur eyes over my sig
dont know about the strains of bci that you get but over here i can go and get a 7ft imperator right now from an exotics specialist down the road

plus if you were really desperate to get max length from ur boa then you could always powerfeed, but its not healthy for the snake

Yours is the norm then, most stay within 6'-7'. There are only a few oddballs that get to be 8', and a 9-footer or more is a rarity considering how many boas are kept in captivity. However, if you read my post you would notice now I said a lot of the captive-bred ones are mutts.

yes alot of captive breds are mutts. the 7ft boa down the road in the exotics shop is only about 4 years old i think, its female so potentially it could be a 10fter when fully grown.
mine is also female and is 8 months old and 2.5ft which is a very good size for her age... shes currently in the dark phase

if i do get one i would get a male BCI

how are BCIs at feeding?

Could a male live in a 40 gallon?

mine is very aggressive with feeding and gets very protective over her food. its about the only time she is aggressive tho. when i say aggressive its still safe to hand feed tho. i just hold the rat by its tail and she strikes it and takes it from my hand.
no a 40g is to small for an adult, but would be fine until about 3 years old
i will also add that bci's are very rarely fussy eaters and you should have no probs with feeding. i will be working mine up to take rabbits when fully grown

6ft long and upwards really, depending on how comfortable u want it to be.
mine is in a 75 an when she grows out of it will be going in a 4ft long by 6ft high viv. boas do like to do a bit of climbing. they are very curious snakes and like to explore your house lol

get a hog island, once mine tamed down it was great, would rather be held than go back in its cage.Wish I still had it but it was one of my first herps and due to lack of info it suffered because of my low temps and too much feedeing in winter.Unless it had something I didnt know about but this was many moons ago.Get one and post pics, stop fretting on the cage size, bigger ones are not out of reach and you wont need it right away.Save up for a bit,get a young one and do your research.islandboas_07_f.jpgpic is not mine

would a 4 by 2 by 2 work for a single male BCI

oh yeah, any tips of convincing your parents to get one?
