2 feet is kind of small for channa micropeltes but in Cambodia putting these guys in fish tanks is out of this world but these fish grow up to 2 meters at most but clove oil will kill your fish

The only problem with "just taking him out" as 99% of people would do, we can't physically get him out of the small openings in the top of the tank. It's difficult to explain without a photograph.

Once you net it, you have to hold it in the net until it stop moving. With the water lowered, you can pull the head side of the net up first then it is all good. I only do that with fish that are known to be tough and can handle it. For arowanas, I drop a very large shipping bag in and let the fish swim in. Of course, most of the water have to be let out before you can pull up the bag. Once again, you have to pull the head side up first if you are dealing with a large fish. Keep in mine, your water have to be tested. If your water is not right, it needs to be fixed first. Good Luck.

im assuming this isnt fully grown hence him moving it.
also in small amounts clove oil will not kill, just sedate

No. Get your facts straight.
Over a meter? possibly. 2 meters? no chance!

And yes, please tell why clove oil will "Kill your fish"?....
