Source: California Code of Regulations, title 14, section 671. These regulations are promulgated by the California Fish and Game Commission pursuant to statutory authority set forth in the California Fish and Game Code. (There's a statutory list too, but the one from the regulations is more complete. The statutes only contain the original list, whereas the regulations also include all species added by the Commission.)

I am glad i had a red line back in the day when they where legal now i know that they are just a cigar shaped oscar on crack. All they think about or do is eat. Don't get me wrong I would give my left testicle for a bleheri :naughty: but you are not missing that much.

As for bowfins i accidentally caught one pike fishing it was all of 2 feet long and I was very relieved when it spit the hook on shore because i was not going any where near it's mouth :WHOA:

they are nothing like an oscar, totally different personality, and a hell of a lot more savage. THey have big teeth too, and rip tankmates in half.

You are missing a lot, channas are the daddy of aquarium predators.

I Said "oscar on crack" LOL like i said bleheri are sweet as hell because they look awesome but my red lines where never that exciting

My friend just bought a bowfin not too long ago (he just beat me to the store where it was being sold). It's an awesome fish. It may not be a real snakehead, but it's a pretty damn good substitute.

my lps got a 14" bowfin

Are you sure you kept reds?

If you think reds are not that exciting, go into the video lounge now, and download catfish Vs snakeheads.

And saying it's like an oscar on crack is still saying it's like an oscar, just a heightened form of oscar. Having kept both fish, I like them both, but they are not similar at all.

Channas are a HELL of a lot meaner, they breath air, can survive out of water, are long, have big teeth, are a different species, have more character but are less personable, grow much bigger, are more unpredictable, and more extreme, and can swallow much bigger fish :D

Also an oscar is a "bully" fish, it will bully tankmates, flare it's gills, pretend to charge them, establish territory etc. A snakehead is not like this at all, a snakehead is a killer. It will one day turn around and just rip a tankmate in half rather than bully it and beat it up.

I don't understand your analogy at all, snakeheads are similar to oscars purely because they both eat a lot?

hes a flaper... reds arent exicting LOL

My anology is every video i see the snakehead is just sitting there waiting for food I think that is a very similar personality to an oscar I do agree that oscars are more freindly. I am not saying that snakeheads are not ruthless eaters but if i want to see a small animal destroyed i will feed my 4 foot savanah monitor not watch some fish swallow another fish. :screwy:
