the reason snakeheads have such a bad rep is down to the irrisponsable american fish keepers ,i mean they must of made all these impulse buys and imports saw how big this highly predatory not aggressive fish fed and grew and thought,i know ill put it in my local lake thinking it will have a nice life in our climate and a big open space to swim about , and then saw the news about these fish takeing over the rivers and lakes ,so now theve turned to slagging off there own doing how clever
the snakeheads didnt jump on the plane or swim across the world to live in america its your own fault !

im looking forward to your big american replys DUDE

nice SH. :D
if hes responsible enough to care for it.
let it be.
honestly i think the feds are over reacting.
and the only reason SHs can get out is because of bad keepers.
SHs are beautiful fish.
they have personality, some mean, some extremely placid.
just saying.
you shouldnt be doing something illegal.
just try not to get caught.
and have fun with them.
i had 2 before.
now theyre in a large 4000 gallon pond with tons of fish in there.
but remember, just because the dorado is the top predator, doesnt mean he wont be eaten.
it usually turns out this way with the fish you are going to keep with him:
the dorado either kills them off,or if its the same size as the SHs,they could probably kill him.
my 2 SHs killed a catfish larger than themselves by grabbing either size of the body and ripping it apart.
once that dorado gets bittne,it wont be able to fight back simply because the SHs bite would leave him very weak with a huge chunk outta him.
and yes,the aro can reach 48".
but that almost never happens, and btw, redlines also get to that size.i dont think that aro would stand a chance against 3 redlines.
if youre really going to keep the SHs wth your other fish.
remember to watch out.
but if you keep just one SH with the other fish, its should work fine.
hope this helps. :)

Gain some knowledge about a topic before you spout off about it TROLL! There USGS was contacted by an asian american who thought he may be to blame for the problem. He bought 2 large snakeheads from a live fish food market, cause in his religion, they can be used for medicinal uses. He purchased them in an attempt to heal his ailing sister, Who recovered before the tonic was made.
He then released the fish into a local pond in some other kind of religious cerimonial event.

I'm not saying that some aquarists have not released their pets once they became unmanagable, but dont blame the 'American aquarist' in general. I am quite sure not all British aquarists are geniuses. I am not arrogant, and I am not saying that America dont make mistakes ( look at George Bush) But I AM a fiercly loyal American and dont Like being insulted! My grandfather died so your country wouldnt be known as NEW GERMANY. So please let this be the end of this conversation.
